A Few Words About Essential Fatty Acids:

"Essential fatty acids (EFA's) form the miraculous membrane of every cell of the body including the neurons of the brain. They control every bodily function including the blink of an eye, the wiggle of a toe...even our flickering thoughts. EFA's are the very foundation of the life of cells and directly affect the function of all organs of the body including the brain." Ed Kane. Body Bio Balance. 2007

"Healing the membrane is virtually....healing the brain." John Foster, MD, et al. Townsend Letter for Doctors & Patients- November 2002.

Better Brain Profile

The Better Brain Profile consists of a set of simple tests that demonstrate potential imbalances in diet which have a tremendous impact on brain function.  Fatty acids, sensitivity to grains(gluten/gliadin),and food antibodies are evaluated.Together these tests help Dr. Bieley to personalize diet and nutritional supplementation.

The Red Blood Cell Membrane- Fatty Acid Report

This test analyzed by the Kennedy Kreiger Lab at Johns Hopkins is the most comprehensive analysis of fatty acids in the world. It evaluates the levels of fatty acids in red blood cell membranes.  Imbalances in these fatty acids significantly affect inflammatory and other disorders. By knowing the various fatty acid levels, we re-establish a balance using appropriate and judicious nutritional fatty acid interventions.

Fatty acid imbalances are commonly seen in patients with chronic conditions (arthritis, atherosclerosis, allergies, eczema, irritable bowel disease, autoimmune diseases).

Fatty acid imbalances are commonly seen in patients with behavioral and neuropsychological disturbances (senile dementia, ADHD, agressive and anti-social tendencies, depression and feelings of pins and needles).

Fatty acid imbalances are seen in  pregnant and lactating women.

Both the clinical picture and the laboratory picture nearly always improve with accurate and judicious supplementation of appropriate fatty acids.

Optimal Nutritional Evaluation

Even people who eat a "balanced” or healthy diet and take supplements, may still lack vital and necessary nutrition. The Optimal Nutritional Evaluation assists in understanding your biochemical individuality and supplementation needs. This evaluation also takes into account organic acids, the functional need for vitamins and minerals, neurotransmitter metabolites, and oxidative stress. Doctor Bieley evaluates your overall nutritional status and with this information, and provides specific and personalized recommendations for supplementation.

Gastrointestinal

At Healthy Aging Medical Center we employ a battery of gastrointestinal tests to ascertain patients’ digestive health and function. The tests include analyses of digestion, absorption, bacterial balance, yeast and parasites, all of which impact gastrointestinal health.

Toxic Effects Profiles:

We do testing for these ubiquitous compounds. Chlorinated pesticides are absorbed across the gut and interfer with nerve conduction.  PCB's can cause impairment in the brain, childhood development, nervous system, immune system and may cause fertility issues. Solvents can cause muscular weakness, problems with eyesight, blood disorders, cancers, and chromosomal changes.

Since many environmental toxins are stored in fat cells and bioaccumulate in the body, the toxins often interfere with immune system and nervous system, and can adversely affect how your hormones function, as well as being passed along through pregnancy  to your children. Detoxification treatments can be effective in removing toxic burdens.

Healthy Aging Medical Center utilizes the very latest laboratory tests and assessment.
